Just as Daft Punk re-assembled to bring the world of Tron: Legacy to life, Nine Inch Nails is coming together to score Tron: Ares.
The announcement was made during Disney main entertainment showcase at D23 Friday evening.
But that’s not all! During the same presentation for the film, it was confirmed that the film will explore characters from The Grid entering the real world.
The film will focus on the emergence of Ares, a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact. Jared Leto will play the human manifestation of that program.
Tron: Ares will be directed by Joachim Rønning (Young Woman and the Sea), with a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. The film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Sarah Desjardins.
Tron: Ares is scheduled to be released theatrically on October 10, 2025.
