According to a report from the Puck newsletter, Kathleen Kennedy is set to step down from her role at LucasFilm at the end of this year.
Kennedy has been a pivotal figure in the careers of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg and has led LucasFilm for 13 years. She played a key role in the production of the recent Star Wars films, as well as various spin-offs and television series made for Disney+.
Additionally, her husband, Frank Marshall, has enjoyed a successful career in documentaries and Broadway productions, which likely presents an appealing alternative for Kennedy. Kennedy has been a successful producer long before her leadership role at Lucasfilm.
Under her leadership, LucasFilm became a valuable asset for Disney, which acquired it for $4 billion in 2012 to date the studio has grossed over $5 billion.
