Disney+ Shelves ‘Tiana’ Series, New Special in The Works

In what should come as no surprise, Disney+ has decided to shelve the Princess and the Frog series Tiana.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, streaming series say that despite best efforts, including several changes to the creative team, Tiana ultimately could not get to where it needed to be given production costs.

The animation studio is reportedly working on a distinct short-form special inspired by The Princess and the Frog, which is in its preliminary stages of development. While specifics about the project have not been disclosed, it is anticipated to present fresh narratives derived from the 2009 film, with Joyce Sherri set to direct and Steve Anderson on board as the writer.
