Disney recently shelved development on their live-action adaptation of Tangled but some fun pieces of news are coming to light.
While speaking with Vogue, supermodel and social media icon Gigi Hadid revealed that she auditioned for the role of Rapunzel. She always went on to share what she did to prep for the audition to play one Disney’s newer classic princesses.
“What do we do in this job anymore that scares us?” Gigi asks Kendall [Jenner]. She didn’t get the part in the end, and though the project is on hold, the whole experience was clearly a good one. “I was really proud of my scene, The singing…I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.”
I have heard rumbling recently that Disney is prepping to restart development on the Tangled. At this time, it is pretty early going so I am unsure whether Hadid is still attached or even in the running but time will certainly tell.
Tangled was in development with both The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey and Thor: Love and Thunder writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson attached to direct and write this adaption.
