Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have added another major player to their upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Veteran actor Marvin Jones III has officially been tapped to portray the crime boss Lonnie Lincoln, better known to fans as Tombstone.
Jones, who audiences will recognize from his work on DC’s Black Lightning and various stage projects, steps back into the Marvel fold with a character who has long been a formidable underworld presence in the comics. Tombstone, identifiable by his imposing physique and unnerving pale features, is expected to bring a gritty edge to the film’s exploration of New York’s criminal landscape.
Jones has already voiced the role in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and will return for Beyond The Spider-Verse in 2027.
The film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Tramell Tillman.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently in development and will continue the adventures of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker following the events of No Way Home.
