Well looks it like Tangled is back, Rapunzel fans.
Reported from Deadline, Disney’s live-action Tangled is back in development with two-time Oscar nominated actress Scarlett Johansson circling for the role of Mother Gothel.
Tangled was put on hold back in April after Snow White’s poor box office reception until Lilo & Stitch grossed over a billion dollars at the box office worldwide during the summer movie season.
The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey is still attached to direct along with a script written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
Tangled is the story of Rapunzel, a kidnapped princess with magical long blonde hair who’s been locked up in a Tower for her entire life, until she meets a thief, who sets her on adventure of freedom and discovery in the outside world.
The 2010 animated featured grossed $592.5 million worldwide with a budget of $260 million making it the most expensive animated film ever.
Scarlett Johansson who’s starred in this year’s Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme and Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth, along with her directorial debut feature film, Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb as made her the highest grossing actor of all-time with a revenue of $17.7 billion from her work.
We should expect more casting for Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder sooner than later with many fans online fancasting former Disney star and Grammy award winner singer Sabrina Carpenter as the leading princess but we shall see since Tangled is back on board.
