In what could be a surprising turn of events, a new rumor is saying Marvel Studios has canceled the highly anticipated Blade reboot, which was set to star Mahershala Ali.

The update came during a recent episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, hosted by industry insiders Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, where Sneider revealed that the studio has shifted its focus, opting instead to introduce the iconic vampire hunter within the larger narrative of Midnight Sons.

The Blade reboot had been in development for several years, generating considerable excitement among fans eager to see Ali take on the role famously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the late ’90s. However, as production timelines and creative directions evolved, Marvel Studios faced hurdles that ultimately led to the decision to pull the plug on the standalone project.

Sneider indicated that the character of Blade will now appear in the Midnight Sons, a project that delves into the darker corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring a team of supernatural heroes. This strategic shift aims to integrate Blade into a broader storyline, allowing for a more organic introduction alongside characters like Ghost Rider and Moon Knight.

As of now, additional details regarding the Midnight Sons project, including a release date and casting announcements, remain under wraps. However, the inclusion of Blade signals a bold step forward for Marvel as it explores new storytelling avenues in its ever-expanding universe.
