As production on Disney’s live-action Tangled ramps up, it appears the studio has finally locked in its villain.
Earlier this year, you might recall Deadline reporting that Kathryn Hahn was in talks to star as Mother Gothel. However, earlier today, the actress took to social media to confirm the casting herself!
She starts the video out by saying she wants to share her “Outfit of the Day.” But when she backs up, you can see she’s wearing a shirt plastered with various images of the character.
If it wasn’t already obvious enough, she added Walt Disney Studios as a collaborator!

Hahn joins Teagan Croft (Titans) and Milo Manheim (Zombies franchise), who have been cast as the two iconic characters Rapunzel and Flynn.
Better Man and The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey is directing the Tangled remake.
Disney’s live-action Tangled is expecting to shoot in early June 2026 in the United Kingdom but could be delayed depending on the casting for the feature film.
