Disney and Pixar rolled out the red carpet for the highly anticipated Toy Story 5 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, bringing together the film’s cast, filmmakers, and a surprise musical guest for a memorable evening celebrating the next chapter of the beloved franchise.
The premiere welcomed franchise stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and a host of returning and new cast members, alongside director Andrew Stanton, co-director Kenna Harris, producer Lindsey Collins, and legendary composer Randy Newman.
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when global music superstar Taylor Swift took the stage to perform the film’s original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You.” The track was written and produced by Swift and longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff specifically for Toy Story 5. Following her performance, Swift joined Randy Newman for a special duet of the iconic Toy Story anthem, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” earning a standing ovation from attendees.
Beyond the celebration, Disney and Pixar also highlighted the film’s charitable outreach efforts. Guests at the premiere were invited to write heartfelt messages for children in hospitals, while Disney announced that Toy Story 5 will be made available to nearly 400 hospitals through the Disney Movie Moments program. Special screenings, character visits, and themed activities are also planned in select cities to bring the magic of the film to children and families in the coming weeks.
Toy Meets Tech
In Toy Story 5, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of Bonnie’s toys face a new challenge when they encounter Lilypad, a brand-new tablet device with its own ideas about what’s best for Bonnie. The story explores the growing relationship between children and technology, placing the toys in unfamiliar territory as they attempt to navigate a changing world.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris, produced by Lindsey Collins, and features a score by Randy Newman. Along with Swift’s original song, Newman returns to provide the musical heart fans have come to expect from the franchise.
