Event: The Princess Diaries 25th Anniversary Pop-Up experience

Shut Up!! …. Lets go explore a mansion. On June 13th Kelly and I had the opportunity through D23: Disney’s official Fan club to go explore and take photos at the Doheny Mansion in Los Angeles which happens to be the actual filming location of all the Genovian Consulate scenes in the movie The Princess Diaries.

The Mansion itself is located on the Campus of Mount St. Mary’s University so we were very limited on time they only gave us an hour to look around which turned out to be completely OK because the Filming locations are only on the first floor of the Mansion .

While we were exploring the Mansion the Walt Disney archives set up little areas where you could see different costumes and props from both Princess diaries one and two. The most recognizable Costume pieces was the coronation gown Amelia wears, the red dress and her school uniform, but there were Outfits from Queen Clarice and her crown plus fat Louie the cat’s crown.

At the end of the experience we were presented with a bag that said the Genovian Consulate on it with a replica of Mia’s Junk Journal in it along with little scrap booking items to go in the journal as well as stickers. They even threw in 3 packs of the throwback Disney channel pins they have in the park .

I would say this event was an awesome event to attend and you really cant go wrong with a D23 event . I would have liked a bit more to do for the $65 a person we paid to do this experience but I recognize that they had to pay for the location, the photographer and the goodies they gave us at the end but is always really cool to see actual filming locations and props and costumes from the movies.
