The X-Men are back.
After a critically acclaimed debut that reignited fans’ love for the iconic animated series, Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 Season 2 is now streaming exclusively on Disney+, bringing a brand-new chapter filled with time travel, familiar faces, and new threats for Marvel’s legendary mutant team.
Following the events of the first season, the X-Men find themselves scattered across different points in time, forcing the team to battle their way back to the 1990s. While the heroes struggle to reunite, the world they left behind has become even more dangerous, with suspicious new enemies emerging and anti-mutant sentiment continuing to grow in their absence.
The second season consists of nine episodes and features an all-star voice cast led by Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, Michael Johnston as Young Nathan Summers, Gates McFadden as Mother Askani, John de Lancie as Rama-Tut, and Michael Dorn as Baal.
The first season became one of Disney+’s most-watched original animated series based on global hours streamed and earned widespread praise from both critics and audiences. As of today, Season 2 has launched with a perfect 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, continuing the momentum established by its Emmy-nominated predecessor.
Behind the scenes, X-Men ’97 is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo. Jake Castorena serves as supervising producer, with episodes written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley direct the season.
