Lucasfilm Reveals New Trailer and Premiere Date for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi

Lucasfilm has officially unveiled the first trailer and key art for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, the latest animated project expanding the beloved Star Wars: Visions universe. The eight-episode limited anime series will premiere August 5, 2026, streaming exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.

The trailer and teaser poster made their debut during a special Anime Expo 2026 panel in Los Angeles, where supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, director Shunsuke Tada, and producer Hitoshi Ito introduced the highly anticipated series.

Unlike previous standalone Star Wars: Visions shorts, The Ninth Jedi continues the story first introduced in the acclaimed episode “The Ninth Jedi” and its follow-up “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.” The series follows Lah Kara as she continues her Jedi training under Margrave Juro while embarking on a dangerous journey of self-discovery. Alongside Juro’s small fellowship of Jedi-in-training, Kara sets out on a mission to rescue her father and confront new threats to the galaxy.

The series is directed by Shunsuke Tada and written by Mitsuyasu Sakai, with Kenji Kamiyama serving as supervising director. Executive producers include James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach, and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, while Hitoshi Ito and Kanako Shirasaki serve as producers. Caroline Keller joins the production as co-producer.

The English voice cast features several returning performers, including Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Patrick Seitz, Simu Liu, and Neil Kaplan as the Narrator. The Japanese-language cast also returns with Chinatsu Akasaki, Tetsuo Kanao, Hiromu Mineta, Hinata Todokoro, Cho, Shinichiro Miki, and Akio Otsuka.

With its continuation of one of the most beloved Star Wars: Visions stories, The Ninth Jedi marks the beginning of a new banner of longer-form animated storytelling for the franchise, giving fans an even deeper look into this unique corner of the galaxy far, far away.
