Vision has a bounty on his head, a mysterious kid at his side, and Ultron lurking in his programming, so much for a fresh start.
Marvel Television has released a new trailer for VisionQuest, arriving October 14 exclusively on Disney+. Disney is billing the series as the conclusion of the trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.
And judging by the story details released alongside the trailer, Vision’s search for answers is about to get dangerous.
A Bounty, a Boy, and a Very Bad Voice in His Head
Paul Bettany returns as Vision, who has been living in hiding after being rebooted and escaping the people who wanted to turn him into a weapon. He’s searching for purpose, consulting the artificial intelligence personas embedded in his programming.
That lineup includes F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the last personality anyone would want offering life advice: Ultron.
Vision’s quiet existence ends when someone places a bounty on his head. Suddenly, he’s on the run alongside Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be his reincarnated son.
That “may” leaves plenty of room for questions. Who is Thomas, what does he know, and how much is Vision willing to risk to find out?
For a character trying to understand his own identity, the possibility of finding family makes an already messy situation deeply personal.

Ultron Makes Everything Worse
James Spader is among the series’ stars, and Ultron’s influence is central to the official synopsis. Vision must resist that influence while evading capture and figuring out the truth about his young companion.
There’s a nasty tension in that setup. Vision can run from the people hunting him, but escaping something embedded in his own programming is a different problem entirely.
It also gives VisionQuest an intriguing hook. The danger follows Vision wherever he goes, including into the conversations he turns to for guidance. With Ultron involved, every answer deserves a second look.
The Final Chapter of Marvel’s Visionary Trilogy
Disney’s description of VisionQuest as the trilogy’s conclusion gives this series some considerable expectations to meet. The mystery surrounding Thomas Shepherd offers a direct emotional thread to explore as Vision tries to understand what family and identity mean to him now.
Terry Matalas created the series for television and is among its writers and directors. Alongside Bettany and Spader, the cast includes Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy.
The premise gives Bettany plenty to work with: a hunted fugitive, a possible father, and a being whose search for meaning comes with some deeply unwelcome company.
Vision wants answers. Getting them could cost him the freedom he’s fought to keep.
