Disney’s latest Southern California purchase comes with a hefty price tag and plenty of room: a 25-acre campus just miles from Disneyland.
The company has acquired Yamaha Motor Corp.’s longtime U.S. headquarters in Cypress for approximately $115 million. Located at 6555 Katella Avenue, the property includes nearly 279,000 square feet of office, warehouse and industrial space. That’s an entire city block added to Disney’s holdings in Orange County.
What Does Disney Have Planned?
Disney told the Orange County Register the campus will support backstage operations and its long-term business needs, according to reporting republished by Yahoo Finance. Those operations can include services such as laundry and costuming, although Disney hasn’t announced exactly which departments will occupy the property.
It might sound less exciting than a new attraction announcement, but there’s a worthwhile story here. Every theme park needs a substantial operation behind the scenes to keep the guest experience running. Buying this much space nearby gives Disney another property to work with as it plans for the future.
Whether that eventually means relocating functions from the Anaheim resort, and what could happen to any space they leave behind, remains an unanswered question. Disney has not announced a connection between this purchase and a specific Disneyland expansion project.

Yamaha Isn’t Packing Up Overnight
Disney owns the property, but Yamaha will continue leasing it through December 31, 2028, while relocating its headquarters to Kennesaw, Georgia. Any transformation of the campus will take time.
For now, the purchase is a substantial investment in the infrastructure supporting Disneyland. There’s no new ride to reveal and no opening date to circle, but $115 million buys a lot of breathing room.
The next announcement to watch is what Disney decides to put there.
