The Lion King is one of Disney’s most popular movies and, as most of you know, will now be turned into a live action movie premiering July 19, 2019.
So far Disney has announced that the roles of Mufasa and Simba will be played by James Earl Jones and Donald Glover respectively. However, there hasn’t been any indication of who would be playing the iconic duo of Timon and Pumbaa…until now.
Today it has been announced that Seth Rogen (Pumbaa) and Billy Eichner (Timon) will be joining the cast! Both comedians have sung before during talk show interviews, but hearing them sing professionally together during the iconic song, Hakuna Matata, will be very exciting to watch! They already know each other from when Eichner convinced New Yorkers that Seth was dead on his TV series Billy on the Street, but have never worked on a movie together. Watching them (or at least their characters) perform is going to be very fun to see!
We still don’t know who will be playing a handful of other characters such as Nala and Scar, but it is nice to have such an amazing cast thus far!
