Ron Howard Takes Over Directing Duties On The HAN SOLO Movie!

After directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were relieved of their duties, it was rumored Ron Howard was in talks to take over the film. Now it’s official, and he has been hired to finish the movie for LucasFilm.

The news comes from none other than TheHollywoodReporter, and an official announcement should be coming soon today. Ron Howard (Apollo 13, Rush) will reportedly first meet with the actors starring in the film; Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Thandie Newton. He will apparently try to “soothe a rattled set and will pore over a rough edit to see what the project has and still needs.”

‘The Lego Movie‘ Directors were originally set to direct the film, but they were “fired” due to creative differences. For more info on that click here.

Ron Howard is a very good director, with such films like ‘Apollo 13′ and the more recent ‘Rush’.He won an Oscar for directing ‘A Beautiful Mind‘, so he is definitely very talented and likely up for the task. I personally wouldn’t have chosen him to take over directing duties, someone younger and more in tune with this generation is a better choice I think. But I’m sure Howard will do a fine job and get the movie back on track.
