Arguably Disney’s best live-action remake to date (at the very least visually) was 2016’s The Jungle Book. The film even earned the studio an Academy Award for visual effects. Well if you were a fan of The Jungle Books special effects than this news should excite you.

Disney Studios is bringing back The Jungle Book’s special effects supervisor JD Schwalm to tackle The Jungle Cruise film based on the classic Disneyland attraction.

Schwalm’s other credits include Fate of The Furious, Rampage, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Wolverine, Spider-Man 2, and Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End.

The Jungle Cruise will star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra set to helm the film. Flavio Labiano (Non-Stop) as cinematographer with production set for Atlanta. It’s said shooting will begin in April.

As of right now there is no release date set for The Jungle Cruise!

  1. Quite serendipitous that both titles have “jungle” in their name, lol!

I wonder how much special effects the ‘Jungle Cruise’ movie will have?
