2018 is going to be filled with blockbuster movies. Franchises will be expanded and new exciting stories featuring familiar characters will be told. From Avengers: Infinity War to A Wrinkle In Time to Incredibles 2, fans all over the world will be forking over their hard-earned cash to see what film studios have in store for them.
One film in particular that has been shrouded in a veil of mystery for the last year is Disney and Lucasfilm’s next joint project, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Between Phil Lord and Christopher Miller dropping out as directors, the casting of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian to Ron Howard taking the reins as director to rumors of re-shoots happening as recently as the last few weeks, the second Star wars saga spin-off is having some difficulty getting its feet underneath it
Many fans have been clamoring for any sort of knowledge about the film and, with the newest release of Disney’s 2018 press kit, that wish has been granted in the form of the first film synopsis!
“Board the Millenium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set course for one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” releases in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018″
There is a lot to pick apart in this one short paragraph. This is confirmation of the seedy criminal underworld doings of Han Solo that has been hinted at so many times over the last 40 plus years. This film will depict just how Han and Chewie became the close-knit bets friends we know and love. Lando is also going to be a huge part of the film, meaning Childish Gambino is going to have some material to sink his teeth into within the Star Wars universe.
Directed by Ron Howard, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han, with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. Woody Harrelson is playing Han’s mentor, a man by the name of Beckett, while Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star.
