GAME OF THRONES Creators To Develop New STAR WARS Series Of Films!

A few months back it was announced by Lucasfilm that Rian Johnson would develop a new trilogy of Star Wars films. Well Lucasfilm is making sure we get even more Star Wars films in the future.

Lucasfilm has announced Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are set to write and produce a new set of Star Wars films separate from both the Skywalker saga and Rian Johnson’s new trilogy.

Here’s the official statement from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy:

“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

Benioff and Weiss also released a joint statement confirming their work on the new Star Wars films will not begin until work on the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.

“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”

No other details or release dates have been revealed at this time.
