Production Begins On ARTEMIS FOWL!

It has been announced that’s production has begun on Disney’s long in development film Artemis Fowl.

Collider has received information that Disney has filled out the cast for the long-gestating Artemis Fowl adaptation. Joining the initial cast are Tamra Smart, Miranda Raison, Josh McGuire, Hong Chau, Nikesh Patel, Michael Abubakar, Jake Davies, Rachel Denning, Matt Jessup, Simone Kirby, Sally Messham, and Adrian Scarborough.

The project will reunite Branagh with much of the crew that worked on last year’s Murder on the Orient Express, including director of photography Haris Zambarloukos, production designer Jim Clay, composer Patrick Doyle; and hair and makeup designer Carol Hemming. Filming will take place in three major locations: England, Northern Ireland, and Vietnam (with the location of Ho Chi Minh City specifically being referenced as a a major, more specific filming location). Meanwhile, costume designer Sammy Sheldon Differ, and editor Martin Walsh will work with Branagh in other fields. Kenneth Branagh and Judy Hofflund are producing, while Matthew Jenkins and Angus More Gordon are executive producers on the project.

Directed by Kenneth Brannagh and written by Conor McPherson, the film’s cast includes Ferdia Shaw as Artemis Fowl, Lara McDonnell as Captain Holly Short, Josh Gad as Mulch Diggums, Judi Dench as Commander Root, Nonso Anozie as Butler, Tamara Smart as Juliet, Miranda Raison as Angeline. Also among the cast are Josh McGuire, Hong Chau, Nikesh Patel, Michael Abubakar, Jake Davies, Rachel Denning, Matt Jessup, Simone Kirby, Sally Messham, and Adrian Scarborough in unspecified roles.

Artemis Fowl will hit theaters on August 9, 2019.
