Utkarsh Ambudkar & Ron Yuan Join Live-Action MULAN Remake

Disney is quickly putting the final touches on its cast for their live-action adaptation of Mulan. As its being reported by Deadline that Utkarsh Ambudkar and Ron Yuan are in talks to join the cast.

Ambudkar will play Skath, a con artist, while Yuan is the fiercely loyal Sergeant Qiang, second in command of the Imperial Regiment.

The film stars Chinese actress Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu as the title character of Mulan and recently announced martial arts superstar Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, a mentor and teacher to Mulan. Jet Li will play the Emperor of China, and Gong Li as the villain. The film will be directed by Niki Caro, Which will begin production this August in China, New Zealand, and Australia.

Disney’s live-action remakes have grossed over $4.5 billion at the worldwide box so far, and will look to continue that success with  Mulan, and remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, Sword In The Stone, Lady In The Tramp, Peter Pan, And The Little Mermaid all in active production and/or development.

Disney’s Mulan will hit theaters on March 27, 2020.
