Tim Allen Compares TOY STORY 4 To AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

9 years after the release of the last film, Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story 4 is on course to finally land in theater next year. Now thanks to Tim Allen we have a nice little tease on the film that should excite some fans.

Allen, who has provided the voice for Buzz Lightyear in all three Toy Story films and will do so once again when Toy Story 4 is released in June 2019, appeared on the CBS daytime program The Talk on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Most of the interview was focused on Allen promoting the return of his ABC sitcom Last Man Standing, but at one point, co-host Sarah Gilbert asked the Birmingham actor about the highly-anticipated film.

Allen played it close to the vest for the most part, but he did provide some interesting comments.

“Yes, I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story,” he said. “…It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled.”

Allen also compared the film to Avengers: Infinity War

“Yes. I can’t believe it,” Allen said. “I gotta resist getting emotional because I don’t wanna give it away but this is an incredibly great story. If you’re at all a big superhero fan, Infinity War – I’m a big superhero fan – that didn’t seem like it was going to work [but[ it was a lot of vignettes that all made sense. This Toy Story 4 [did that]. We’ve only been through it once, there will be several more incantations, but it is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big the idea that they’ve come up with. I’m startled. 3 I thought was amazing. This one, I couldn’t even get through the last scene, OK?”

Earlier this year Stephany Folsom who was a writers on Thor: Ragnarok had been handed the reigns to the script for the much anticipated sequel. Recently the film went through massive rewrites. At one point the story was revolves around our favorite toys on the search for Bopeep, that idea has been said to be scrapped now, but according to actress Annie Potts Bopeep’s role would indeed be larger.

Josh Cooley will direct the film with the main voice cast from Toy Story 3 expected to return.

Toy Story 4 is expected to hit theaters on June 21, 2019.
