There has been a lot of speculation regarding Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and what is happening with the film. It is still in development but the process is moving very slowly.
Director James Gunn was fired from the project last year after a string of inappropriate tweets resurfaced. As of right now, no directors are being looked at.
During the restructure, there have been a lot of rumors regarding if Marvel Studios would use James Gunn’s script or completely rewrite it. Chris Pratt came out and said that they would in fact be using Gunn’s script; however, nothing was confirmed.
This week, Kevin Fegie confirmed that that will indeed be using James Gunn’s script for the last installment of the Guardians franchise.
“His influence was Guardians. It was Guardians. It was his input on Guardians and the Avengersfilms, as you’ve seen in Infinity War, and on the Guardians 3script, which we’re still using. So you’ll see that influence. I think online, sort of the notion of ‘architect across multiple cosmic things’ was slightly blown out of proportion.“
-Kevin Feige
Still no word on when or where the film when begin production but Marvel is still rolling out the next phase in their film universe.
Catch the Guardians again on April 26, 2019 in Avengers: End Game.
