Cast announced for 30th anniversary “The Little Mermaid” at Hollywood Bowl

“The Little Mermaid” is turning 30 this year. And to celebrate the big anniversary, Disney has announced that an immersive, live theatrical concert highlighting the music of “The Little Mermaid” will be taking place. The Little Mermaid An Immersive Live-To-Film Concert Experience will take place on May 17th and 18th at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

The cast of the Hollywood Bowl concert was recently announced. Broadway veteran and Emmy nominated star of Glee Lea Michele will be performing the lead role of Ariel. Tony winner Harvey Fierstein will be performing the role of Ursula. The cast will also include Peter Gallagher as King Triton, Ken Page as Sebastian, Leo Gallo as Prince Eric, and Cheech Marin as Chief Louis. Disney legend and co-composer of “The Little Mermaid” Alan Menken will also make a guest appearance during the show.

The show will feature these singers as well as a live orchestra. Also it will be performed in front of a live audience. Hollywood Bowl announced that as part of the celebration, the stage will be called “The Hollywood Fishbowl Dive In Theater.” Tickets will be available to purchase on general sale this week.

Disney productions are not new to Hollywood Bowl. Previously, musical celebrations of “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” have taken place. In fact, this is the second time that “The Little Mermaid” will be performed at Hollywood Bowl. In 2016, “The Little Mermaid” was performed for the first time as a Live-To-Film Concert Experience at Hollywood Bowl. Sara Bareilles and the original voice of Ariel, Jodi Benson, both played Ariel throughout the show’s run. The cast included Rebel Wilson as Ursula, Darren Criss as Eric and John Stamos as Chief Louis. Titus Burgess and Norm Lewis reprised their Broadway roles of Sebastian and King Triton, respectively.
