Earlier this year Disney/Pixar released brand new 4K Blu-Ray for Toy Story 1-3. If you own or seen the Toy Story 2 version, you may have noticed a small change to the end credit blooper reel.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, Disney has deleted a casting couch joke. In the scene in question, Woody is filming a scene with Bullseye and Jessie when he approaches Stinky Pete’s box. Upon flipping it around so we can see the inside, Stinky Pete is shown speaking to a pair of Barbie twins. “So, you two are absolutely identical? You know, I’m sure I can get you a part in Toy Story 3,” the toy says as he grabs the hand of one of the dolls. Just then, he notices Woody and the others staring at him, realizing he’s been caught in the act. Nervously, Stinky Pete then tries to play it cool, saying, “Anytime you want some tips on acting, I’d be glad to chat with you.”
The Walt Disney Company is changing with the times, and they are taking not only present matters seriously, but also the past to prevent such sickening things like this to happen in their ever-growing future. Pixar Animation co-founder and Disney animation chief John Lasseter left the company in June 2018 after he was accused of inappropriate touching and remarks.
Back in April, it was reported that the Disney+ streaming platform would be deleting racially insensitive scenes from their past movies for their inclusion on the new service.
Meanwhile, Disney/Pixar has Toy Story 4 in theaters now and is seeing financial and critical success.
