After six seasons, the end is nigh for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

During San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Television Chief Jeph Loeb told Deadline that the upcoming seventh season – airing sometime in 2020 – will be the series’ last and that knowing the date in advance allowed the show writers to “build a season that will tie up any threads that are there to make sure that we come to a conclusion that’s satisfying to the fans, to the cast, to Marvel and to ABC.”

In addition, Loeb said that a final season allowed the showrunners to “take greater risks, of life and death.”

The show’s sixth season is set to air its finale on Friday August 2nd, with series star Chloe Bennet teasing “a big shift that sets up for next season” during a set visit from TVLine.
