Well it looks like Ryan Gosling’s Jonny Blaze is gonna have some heated rivalry.
It’s just in that Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie is in talks to join Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider as a villain, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Shawn Levy will be directing Ghost Rider and will reunite with his leading Star Wars: Starfighter actor, Gosling where he will be portraying the leading title character Johnny Blaze along with the script by Jonathan Tripper.
It’s been confirmed that production will began next year in New York and will be shot on film by Oscar winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren who’s filmography includes La La Land, First Man, (both starring Gosling), Babylon, No Time to Die and this year’s upcoming Warner Bros. sci-fi epic Dune Part 3 which is set for December 18th.
In case you don’t know who Johnny Blaze is, he’s a motorcycle stuntman who made a deal with the devil, Mephisto and bonded with demon named Zatharos, in the comics. Blaze then transforms to a flame skull-headed, fiery motorcycle-riding spirit of vengeance to punish wicked beings, henced the name Ghost Rider.
He made his first appearance in 1972’s Marvel Spotlight #5 and was created by writer Gary Freidrich, former Marvel editor-in-chief at the time, Roy Thomas, and artist Mike Ploog. Stan Lee was behind creating the name Johnny Blaze.
There’s no word on which villain Storrie will play since Ghost Rider doesn’t have a signature villain but fought demonic characters including Mephisto.
Ghost Rider was originally played by Nicholas Cage in the first two Sony films: Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vegenance (2011). Mephisto is currently in the MCU played by Sacha Baron Cohen who debut in the Marvel-Disney+ series Ironheart.
Storrie is having a big-break after his huge breakout role in 2025 Canadian series, Heated Rivalry, where he protrayed Russian pro-hockey player, Ilya Rozanov, which is currently filming Season 2 and recently earned an Emmy nomination for hosting Saturday Night Live.
The new Ghost Rider film came together quickly from Levy and Gosling meeting with Marvel and had a surprised announcement back in San Diego Comic-Con in July.
It will be produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Levy and Gosling along with Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson executive producing.
Ghost Rider is set to ride in theaters July 28, 2028.
