Gemma Chan is in talks to join Marvel Studios’ upcoming film The Eternals. However, this may not be the role you think.
According to Variety, their sources have informed them that Chan’s part in The Eternals would be a completely different role, not the role of Minn-Erva she played in Captain Marvel.
If true, would mark one of the first times a star will have played two different characters in the same cinematic universe.
Directed by Chloe Zhao, the film is set to star Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Details about the film are still tightly under wraps. However, we do know that it will center on the Jack Kirby-created comic, The Eternals. The storyline follows super- powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals. They battle with a more monstrous offshoot known as the Deviants. Deviants arose at the hands of the cosmic beings called Celestials (a race featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy films).
Filming on The Eternals is expected to begin later this year after Black Widow wraps production.
The Eternals will make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in theaters on November 6, 2020.
