Back in May, we shared exclusively that Disney+ was working on Muppets shorts that would feature three different segments of a game show, a cooking show, and a talk show. During the Disney+ panel this weekend our scoop was officially confirmed.
The unscripted series will be called Muppets Now and will debut on Disney+ in 2020. Not much information was shared regarding the shorts but the details we shared are still very much in the works.
Kermit The Frog himself took to Twitter to share the news:
Coming exclusively to #DisneyPlus in 2020, @TheMuppets proudly present MUPPETS NOW, a new short-form unscripted series! I’d love to tell you more, but Joe The Legal Weasel is right behind me. Gulp! pic.twitter.com/UCXdaopQJR

A previous report from SlashFilm of an original series set to release in 2020 called Muppets Live Another Day, from Josh Gad, is also in the works. So it is safe to say the Muppets will have a lasting home on the streaming service with series, shorts, and likely future films coming in the future.
We are excited for the return of Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo, and the rest of the Muppets gang. Currently, Muppet fans can get their fix with Disney Junior’s Muppet Babies, a re-imagining of the Saturday morning cartoon that ran from 1984 to 1991.
