The Disney+ streaming service will be offering a number of different films and tv shows to be accessed on the platform, the next to join will be the English Language Learning program Disney’s World of English, we have learned.
Disney’s World of English is an ELL program for children 0-7. Using Disney’s characters and stories, children are encouraged to learn English naturally through musical numbers, games, dance, arts and crafts, and activities, making learning a second language fun!
The program was first developed in the 1970s by World Family English, a long-term Walt Disney Productions and The Walt Disney Company licensee. The program was introduced and has become well known throughout Japan, and is currently marketed in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong/Macau, and South Korea.
Mark Benjamin and Daniel Hank (Producers of Fisher Price’s family video shorts), and Barry Shapiro (Breaking Amish) will be producing the program with casting director Bess Fifer (It’s Bruno!) and the ELL program’s director Jamie Lustberg (also of Fisher Price’s family video shorts).
So far we have learned the program is currently casting an actor for a character named Stephen, 10 to 14 years old and the ‘ringmaster’ of the circus show! He also plays ‘Stephen the Magnificent’ a magician who teaches and performs simple tricks. Stephen is a jokester who can ham it up, whether he is demonstrating shapes or pretending to work on a farm.
Production on the project will begin in October and will shoot through late November.
Disney’s World of English does not have an official release date yet, but is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2020.
