Disney Developing Live-Action Adventure Film ’Knights’

Disney is in development on a live-action adaptation of Sword in the Stone, and the Merlin Saga, but the studio isn’t done developing projects in the middle ages.

According to Deadline, Disney is in early development on live-action family-adventure movie tentatively titled Knights, which will be set in the European Middle Ages.

The screenplay for the film is being worked on by Matt Orton, who wrote the 2018 film Operation Finale. The film is being overseen by the Disney live-action execs Jessica Virtue and Chaz Salembier.

Salembier, who has been at the studio since 2015, has worked on movies including Disney+ launch title Lady And The Tramp and musical-mashup development project Cyrano The Moor which has David Oyelowo attached.

Knights is said to be a theatrical project and not a Disney+ at this time, but it is early, and things could easily change.

The film will follow a headstrong young woman who joins a knight on his quest to destroy a world-threatening artifact before it falls into the wrong hands.
