Actress Yvette Nicole Brown has seemed to make Disney+ her new home. She will be seen in the Disney+ live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp and has now joined a new series in the works for the streamer.
She has joined John Stamos (Fuller House) in the upcoming sports dramedy Big Shot coming to Disney+ from ABC Studios.
The 10 episode one hour series follows a temperamental college basketball coach Marvyn (Stamos) who gets fired from his job and must take a teaching and coaching job at an elite all-girls private high school.
Yvette Nicole Brown will play Sherilyn, the no-nonsense dean of Westbrook School for Girls. Also joining the cast is Shiri Appleby (Unreal), who will play Holly, the good-humored and down-to-earth assistant basketball coach.
Rounding out the Big Shot series regulars are Richard Robicheaux (Boyhood, Oceans 8) as George, Sophia Mitri Schloss as Emma, Nell Verlaque as Louise, Tiana Le as Destiny, Monique Green as Olive, Tisha Custodio as Carolyn ‘Mouse’ Smith, and Cricket Wampler as Samantha ‘Giggles’.
David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) will write the series along with Dean Lorey (Arrested Development), with both executive producing. Brad Garret (Christopher Robin), who pitched the original idea to Kelley, will also executive produce. Bill D’Elia will executive produce and direct the first episode. The series will begin shooting in November in Los Angeles.
