Richard E. Grant Joins Marvel Studios ‘Loki’ Disney+ Series

March 11, 2020Skyler Shuler

Actor Richard E. Grant is making the move from one big Disney owned cinematic universe to another, as The Rise of Skywalker star is set to appear in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series, Loki.

The news originally came from DiscussingFilm, as they reported Grant joined the series (which is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia) in an unknown role. Variety then confirmed their report and added that Grant would only be appearing in one episode. However, despite his small role, you don’t cast an Academy Award-nominated actor like Richard E. Grant in a throwaway role, so we expect to see more of his character in the MCU in the future.

The series will be apart of the first wave of Marvel shows coming to Disney+. During the Super Bowl, we got a brief teaser or tent shows, which you can find here. It will appear next to The Falcon and the Winter Solider and Wandavision which have all been confirmed for this year; however, Loki will premiere in early 2021, which was reaffirmed today by Bob Iger during today’s shareholder meeting.

Disney+’s Loki sees the return of Tom Hiddleston as the title character, also set to star are Sophie Di Martino, Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast), all in unknown roles. Kate Herron (Daybreak) will direct the series. Michael Waldron (Rick & Morty) wrote the series.
