Manjari Makijany Will Direct The Dance Film ‘Spin’ For Disney+

Indian director Manjari Makijany is set to direct Disney’s newest original Disney+ film Spin, DiscussingFilm has learned.

The film is set to follow a teenager who, following the death of her mother, finds her life revolving around helping at her family’s restaurant, but when she falls for an aspiring DJ, he re-awakens her passion for music, and she begins to realize that may be where her priorities lie.

Carley Steiner (Play Date), Céline Geiger (The Vampire Diaries) and Josh A. Cagan (Kim Possible ‘2019’) are all set to write the screenplay for Spin, with Zanne Devine (Easy A) producing. Devine is also the executive producer on the upcoming Disney+ film Secret Society of Second Born Royals.

As of now, there is no production start date for the project, despite, everything going on in the entertainment industry at this time the project is still in development remotely, and we’d imagine production will begin later this year, with the hopes of debuting the film on Disney+ in 2021.

Makijany recently wrapped production on her directorial debut Desert Dolphin, but has worked on big name projects as a second unit director including Dunkirk, Wonder Woman, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and The Dark Knight Rises.
