‘The Simpsons’ Back to Proper 4:3 Aspect Ratio on Disney+

Fans of The Simpson’s can finally watch the hit animated series in its original 4:3 aspect ratio on Disney+.

The entire library for the Fox series debuted on Disney+ back in November but launched with the first 19 seasons and part of the 20th in a remastered 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and fans were not happy.

Disney said when the streamer launched that it made the decision to release the episodes in a 16:9 aspect ratio “in order to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons.” The Simpson’s moved to a 16:9 ratio in 2009.

The company revealed back in February that they had heard the fans loud and clear, and was working on a change, which was said to be complete in late May.

Disney+ users can now toggle between the two aspect ratios.
