Grace Van Patten (Under The Silver Lake) has been cast as a lead opposite Nicole Kidman (Paddington) and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) in Hulu’s limited series Nine Perfect Strangers, Deadline has learned.

Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this ten-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies.

The series is also set to star Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), and Melvin Gregg (The Way Back). Grace Van Patten will play Zoe, one of the nine “perfect” strangers.

The series is based on Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty’s latest book, from David E. Kelley, who wrote on the HBO series, Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories, Kidman’s Blossom Films – all key auspices behind HBO’s hit Big Little Lies adaptation — and Endeavor Content.

Nine Perfect Strangers is executive produced by Bruna Papandrea (Gone Girl), Steve Hutensky (Limitless), and Jodi Matterson (Little Monsters) for Made Up Stories, Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, Liane Moriarty, Kelley, John Henry Butterworth, and McCarthy. The series is hoping to debut in 2021.

Samara Weaving has been making quite the name for herself in Hollywood starring in the horror-thriller Ready or Not, Netflix’s hit film The Babysitter, and this year’s dark comedy Guns Akimbo. Weaving will next appear in the highly-anticipated Bill and Ted Face the Music and Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, both expected to hit theaters later this year.
