This Week In Disney History (September 13 – 19)

September 13, 1997: Recess premieres on ABC.

September 14, 1985: Adventures of the Gummi Bears premieres on NBC.

September 15, 1996: Ellen’s Energy Adventure opens at Walt Disney World’s Epoct. Happy 30th anniversary!

September 16, 2011: The Lion King is re-released in 3D.

September 17, 2002: Kingdom Hearts is released in North America.

September 18, 1987: Ducktales premieres in syndication.

September 19, 2000: The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea is released on home video.

Brief thoughts: Several TV shows that 80s and 90s kids loved debuted during this week; Ellen’s Energy Adventure was a neat educational attraction for families. Also, The Lion King‘s 3D re-release was an unexpected huge success that box office analysts did not see coming.
