Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ On Track To Become One Of The Year’s Highest Grossing Films

Black Widow has yet to even come out in theaters, yet it already looks to be a success. This, according to a new report released today by Fandango.

According to the report, the popular ticket-selling site claims that the film has had the best pre-sales of the year so far. That means that they have already beat out F9, which previously held the year’s record. Currently, opening weekend projections for the film stand between $80 million and $90 million.

Despite the buzz and the certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Disney has tamed those expectations, predicting that the film might not reel in any more than $75 million when it opens.

Additionally, new odds revealed by the sports betting site OLBG predict that the film will be the third-highest grossing film of 2021. Among all the remaining MCU films slated to come out this year, it actually ranks the highest – although Spider-Man: No Way Home is not too far behind.

Nevertheless, these rankings prove that the decision to finally give the character her own solo adventure might quite literally pay off. We won’t know for sure until Saturday evening or Sunday morning. That’s when the official box office numbers begin to pour in. Be sure to follow The DisInsider to keep up to date!

Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow, the first feature film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access (in most Disney+ markets) on July 9, 2021.
