Just last week we announced that Bloom Li had nabbed the leading role in the forthcoming Disney+ film, Chang Can Dunk. Now, according to Deadline, Chase Liefeld has joined the cast too.
Liefeld is expected to play a character by the name of Matt. He’s the star basketball player at Chang’s high school, who becomes an obsessed with the 16-year-old protagonist
The film will follow Chang, a constantly marginalized, not-popular high school kid who wants to play basketball. In an effort to join the high school’s basketball team and to learn how to dunk, he gives his all – and even falls in love along the way.
Jingyi Shao (Toe Nail) penned the film, but will also direct it. Lena Waithe (Master of None) and Rishi Rajani (The Forty-Year-Old Version) will produce the film.
We previously reported that the film began production this week, but sources close to The DisInsider confirm that production is actually slated to start next week.
