‘In The Heights’ Star Anthony Ramos Joins Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’

Hot off his performance in last year’s musical In The Heights, Anthony Ramos has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Ironheart. He joins Dominique Thorne, who plays the lead Riri Williams aka Ironheart.

According to Deadline, who Ramos is playing is being kept under wraps but is being called a key role. The site goes on to say his role will be similar to how Jonathan Majors was introduced as Kang The Conquer in Loki, where he is expected to not only have a big role in this series but in future Marvel projects as well.

Officially announced last year during Disney’s investor day meeting Ironheart is set to kick off production this April in Chicago under the working title “Wise Guy”. Chinaka Hodge (Amazing Stories) will serve as the head writer on the six-episode first season.

Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a teenage engineering genius at MIT who builds a suit based on Tony Stark’s Iron Man and dons the superhero name Ironheart. The character was created in 2016 by writers Brian Michael Bendis, and artist Mike Deodato, and later redesigned by Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda.

Riri William is set to debut in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which hits theaters in November, before appearing on the streaming series.

Anthony Ramos also appeared in the 2018’s A Star Is Born. In 2021, he received a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in the Disney+ live stage recording of Hamilton. Ramos will next appear in 2023’s newest Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
