During an interview at this year’s Film Independent Spirit Awards, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi explained the current status of the highly anticipated film.
While speaking with Variety on the Red Carpet, Waititi said: “It’s still not finished. It comes out in July, so probably the end of June (laughs). Probably like a day before the premiere. That’s how we do it.”
Although the movie is slated for a July 8 release, the team is still working hard to get the film ready for fans.
Previously, in an interview with The Discourse, Waititi teased what audiences can expect from Thor: Love and Thunder saying, “It’s the craziest film I’ve ever done.” He went on, “If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this, this, and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love and Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”
Chris Hemsworth will be returning as the leading character, accompanied by Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman. The film will add Russel Crowe and Christian Bale to the casting list, and the Guardians of the Galaxy will be included in the movie as well, though details on how big a role they will play remains unknown.
Clearly, fans have a lot to look forward to as the movie makes its final adjustments! Thor: Love and Thunder will be in theaters July 8, 2022.
