According to Deadline, Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney has joined Sony’s upcoming Spider-Verse film Madame Web. She’ll star alongside the previously announced Dakota Johnson.
It is unknown who Sweeney will be playing in the film, but with Spider-Man having so other many associates in the comics, the possibilities are endless.
S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones) will direct the film, while Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and Kerem Sanga (Dinner in America) contributed to the screenplay.

Many have pointed out that the original Madame Web is a much older woman in the comics. With Dakota Johnson being quite the opposite, it’s expected that the film will deviate a lot from what fans may be familiar with.
For those unfamiliar with Madame Web, she is essentially a clairvoyant mutant with psychic sensory powers. Insiders close to Deadline claim that Sony wants this character to be their own version of Doctor Strange.

Despite most of her work being consumable on streaming platforms, this isn’t Sweeney’s first feature film. It his her first major big screen movie. She’s currently filming National Anthem, alongside Simon Rex and Halsey. She’ll presumably begin working on this film once production on that one ends.
