‘King Richard’ Composer Kris Bowers to Score ‘Haunted Mansion’
Hot off the award season success of King Richard, composer Kris Bowers has signed to score Disney’s Haunted Mansion, which is wrapping up filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
Haunted Mansion is set to star LaKeith Stanfield (Knives Out), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Owen Wilson (Loki, Cars), Rosario Dawson (The Mandalorian), and Danny DeVito (The One and Only Ivan). Story details are being kept locked in the tombs but it is known that ostensibly the film will follow a family that moves into the titular mansion. However, it is the characters around that nucleus that will have a big portion of the moonlight shining on them. Famous ghosts and ghouls will be making their appearances in the film, which include the Hitchhiking Ghosts, Madame Leota, the characters from the stretching room, and many more.
Justin Simien, who was previously announced to be working on a Lando Calrissian solo series for Disney+, will helm the film. Although it’s unclear when Disney plans to release the film, though, it is said the film will be released theatrically and not on Disney’s aforementioned streaming service. Kate Dippold, who penned the 2016 female-led reboot of Ghostbusters, wrote the script.
Bowers also worked with Simien on 2020’s Bad Hair. His other notable work includes Green Book, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and Respect. Bowers will be tasked with bringing some of the iconic music and sounds of the Haunted Mansion to life.
Haunted Mansion is slated to spook up audiences in theaters on 10, 2023. We should expect our first look at this film this September during Disney’s D23 Expo.
