Last week, LEGO released its highly anticipated Skywalker Saga game based on the Episodes I-IX of the Star Wars franchise. And while Lucasfilm is still enjoying the game’s massive critical and financial success, it appears that development on yet another Star Wars game has already begun.
In a blog posted today to the Star Wars website, it was announced that the company’s game division is collaborating with Skydance New Media and award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig (Jak and Daxter, Uncharted) to deliver a brand new, narrative-driver action and adventure game/
A new Star Wars adventure is on the way from one of gaming’s most acclaimed creators.
Skydance New Media today announced a collaboration with Lucasfilm Games to develop and produce a narrative-driven, action-adventure game featuring an original story in the Star Wars galaxy. Helming Skydance New Media is award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig, a game-industry legend whose credits include the blockbuster series Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted.
In the statement, Hennig, who serves as the President of Skydance New Media said, “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
Now, this is the second game Disney’s announced in partnership with Skydance. Just last year, it was revealed that the company had also greenlit a game for Marvel Entertainment with “an original story and a unique take [on] beloved Marvel characters.”
Details are scarce on who or what the project will revolve around. Seeing as games take years to come to fruition, we don’t expect any more announcements – at least for the time being.
