Kicking off the fourth week of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial. Jack Whigham Depp’s former CAA agent and current talent manager revealed Depp’s deal for the planned sixth film in the ‘Pirates of the Carbeean‘ franchise.
According to Deadline Whigham said that a $22.5 million deal for Depp to appear in the film had “closed”. He later said that in early 2019 Disney revealed that they would be ‘going in a different direction’ with the franchise. This was after Heard’s op-ed in the Washington Post was published in late 2018. Depp is claiming that the op-ed damaged his career costing him roles in a number of projects. With ‘Pirates’ being one of them.
Back in 2020 Disney was allegedly planning a new ‘Pirates’ project without Depp starring Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad) and written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee). But there haven’t been any updates on the status of that film since.
