Breaking Down the Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer

May 7, 2022John Bishop

There’s much to be learned in 1:29 of new Star Wars footage….

Okay, as we post, we’re 20 days from the premiere of two episodes of Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the days drag on (Tatooine-like) as we anticipate the long-awaited series.

However, earlier this week, fans did get a bit of a respite with the debut of the Official Trailer from Lucasfilm.

Have a watch:

Thankfully, the official Star Wars website helped us out with a breakdown entitled, “5 Highlights from the Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer.”

My favorite of the five, as penned by Dan Brooks, was:

2. Owen and Obi-Wan.

While Obi-Wan delivered a newborn Luke Skywalker to Owen Lars, the Tatooine moisture farmer — and stepbrother of Anakin Skywalker — seems to want nothing more to do with Kenobi. It’s a sentiment that draws a straight line to his concerns in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Meanwhile, two more of my favorites dropped their breakdowns of the video:

New Rockstars

Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming to Disney+ on May 27, featuring the epic rematch duel between Kenobi and Darth Vader! What hidden details did you miss in this latest trailer that dropped on May the Fourth? Erik Voss breaks down this trailer shot by shot for the major details you might have missed, including translations of ALL the Aurebesh, and a NEW PLANET from Star Wars lore being included in this story!

Star Wars Explained

Happy May Fourth everyone! We got the second trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it’s a doozy! Here is my breakdown of the official trailer released earlier today!

One More Moment

Finally, there remains one more moment that had me happy while watching. But it was a tweet about the moment that made me pause to smile:

Everyone involved with Obi-Wan Kenobi sounds so pleased to be part of the project. I can’t wait to sit down on the couch on May 27 and return to Tatooine.
