First Trailer for ‘Willow’ Releases at Star Wars Celebration

The first trailer for Disney+’s Willow series has released during Star Wars Celebration’s Lucasfilm panel. Created by Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle, with some episodes directed by Stephen Woolfenden, the series will star Warwick Davis, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, and Ralph Ineson.

Since 2005, discussions on a potential sequel to the first film were ongoing, but the project remained in development hell for many years, until Ron Howard revealed in 2019 that he was approached to work on a Disney+ series. Jon M. Chu was attached as the director but had to drop out due to personal reasons alongside the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic’s production delays. He was then replaced by Jonathan Entwistle, who also had to leave due to production delays. Ultimately, Woolfenden was chosen as the director of the series’ first two episodes.

Picking up many years after Ron Howard’s film ended, the movie will follow Willow Ulfgood assembling a new team of heroes, to rescue the kidnapped twin brother of a princess.

The series will be premiering on November 30th on Disney+, and you can watch the trailer below:
