Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019 at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the lands stuck strictly to the canonical timeline they were placed in. According to Disney, the land took place in between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. This meant that only characters from that time period could appear in the land to preserve its canonicity. However, things are finally changing at the Disneyland Resort.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, starting May 28th, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will be making their debut at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. They will be the first characters outside of the canon timeline to appear in the land.
In addition to the two characters, later this year the Mandalorian and Grogu will also be making appearances. Disney also had this to say about the canonicity of the new legacy characters appearing in the land.
While we as visitors may be able to experience different stories throughout Star Wars history, the characters on Batuu can not. They will remain in their specific story and timeline and won’t intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.

Interestingly however, Walt Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge was not mentioned in the post. This may be due to the Galactic Starcruiser, where the characters would conflict with the narrative of the 2 night experience. These characters may eventually meet at the currently closed Star Wars Launch Bay, however this is only speculation.
There’s an endless possibility of legacy characters that could show up in Galaxy’s Edge now that the floodgates are open. Could we see Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader? Maybe Han Solo or Obi-Wan Kenobi? Only time will tell.
