For the second year in a row, the classic holiday musical, The Muppet Christmas Carol will be touring England and Scotland with a live orchestra which will play alongside the film, but there is something else that fans far and wide can look forward to.
As Muppets fans will know, ‘When Love Is Gone’ was a song sung by Belle (Meredith Braun) but it was cut before the theatrical release because the then studio head Jeffrey Katzenberg felt it slowed the plot and that it would be uninteresting to younger viewers.

The song was included on the soundtrack and various full-screen format home releases but it has remained cut for most and is often relegated to the deleted scenes section of the bonus features.

In 2018, director Brian Henson told The Big Issue that Disney had lost the negatives and video master to the scene and therefore could not be included in future releases of the movie. But in 2020, Henson confirmed to BBC Radio 2 that the negative has been found and would be included in future 4K releases.

Disney has now confirmed that the English and Scotting tour of The Muppet Christmas Carol will feature the song fully restored to its former glory. And that means it’s only a matter of time until we can see the scene reinstated on Disney+.
