Report: Kevin Hart Christmas Movie ‘Dashing Through The Snow’ to Debut on Disney+; Filming to Begin in August
Back in 2016, reports surfaced that Kevin Hart (Jumanji franchise) had signed on to star in a brand new Christmas movie, Dashing Through The Snow at Disney. Well, six years later there appears to be some life in the project.
In a recent Production Weekly listing, the project is now listed as a Disney+ feature. The movie is also listed to film in August in Atlanta, Georgia. More recently, Production List shows the project set for an August 8 start. The site also shows that Dashing Through The Snow will be a series for the streamer, not a movie.
It should be noted that both Production Weekly and Production List do not always share the most accurate information regarding production starts. That said, they have been known to get a lot of things correct. It is still best to take these new updates with a grain of salt. Disney will likely discuss and/or share additional information on the project during Disney+ Day or at the D23 Expo, both in September.
Dashing Through The Snow tells of a real Scrooge, Nick who discovers the meaning of Christmas when he must help save Santa Claus (Hart) from thugs out to harm him. Nick a New York City detective who is a workaholic and has a strained relationship with his son. The only thing that may be able to repair the father-son relationship is the one true Santa Claus who has to make the man believe in Christmas magic.
Will Packer, who worked with Hart on the Ride Along movies will produce. The project is based on an original idea by Scott Rosenberg (Con Air), and Rob Burnett, who wrote the first draft of the script. John Jacobs and Jessica Virtue also produce.
